Services at All Saints

All Saints Church is living and understanding faith in a contemporary way

Worship is traditional and is generally upon the following monthly pattern.

The first and third Sundays of the month
  • A 9am said Holy Communion service according to the 1662 Book of Common Prayer, usually with a brief homily.

The second and fourth Sundays of the month

  • A 9am partly sung Parish Communion Service according to the 2001 Common Worship order of services, using the traditional language, with a sermon and hymns.
  • (On the 4th Sunday only) A 4:30/6:30pm partly sung Parish Communion Service according to the 1662 Book of Common Prayer, using the traditional language, with a sermon and hymns.

The fifth Sunday of the month
  • A 9am said Holy Communion service according to the 1662 Book of Common Prayer

In addition services and events take place according to the season of the church’s year:

  • A Nine Lessons and a Carol Service takes place before Christmas.
  • In 2006 this will be at 4pm on Sunday 17th December
  • On Christmas Eve in St Margarets at 4pm - a Christingle Service - candlelit and ideal for children and at11:30pm there will be a midnight service
  • On Christmas Day at All Saints a Service of Festival Matins at 11am followed by Holy Communion.
  • Ash Wednesday and Ascension Day are marked by Communion services
  • On the evening of Good Friday a special choral performance takes place
  • Our Patronal Festival is celebrated on the Sunday nearest All Saints Day, 1st November.

Through the year the full range of pastoral services takes place.

Baptisms and weddings are conducted and funerals taken.

The churchyard is still being used for burials and also for the interment of ashes.
