Daisy and Kate - It was brilliant and we'll definitely be there next time. Thanks for organising it. We weren't even stiff the next morning!

I hope everyone that came to the barn dance will agree with us that this was a brilliant success and one that we definitely hope to repeat in 2011!
Thank you to everyone who came along and supported us in our first Highbrook Event and for those who helped with food and the clearing up. Also a thank you must go to John Downe for sourcing the hay bales!
For all those who didn't make it, you missed out and we hope to see you there next year!
Please upload any good photos from the evening here :)

Brilliant. Our gang aged 10, 8 and 6 were enchanted and the 6-year old even sat completely absorbed for almost half an hour (completely unheard of!). Make sure you advertise on the Highbrook network next time and, anyone who didn't go, next time don't miss it. There were hundreds of children there, many younger than ours, and hardly a squeak out of them while the excellent musicians were playing.

We had a most enjoyable evening telling stories and reciting poetry, ancient and modern. One of the Celtic tales, 'Queen Maev and Pillowtalk', has been in a written format for well over a thousand years. At the other extreme, one of the poems was by Pam Ayers. Will people be reciting her poetry a thousand years from now?
The performers really appreciated the warmth of the audiences reception. Once again, our little hall was the perfect venue.
The next evening will be on the theme of 'Gardens and Gardeners' and will be in late May.

Hammingden Tipteerers at large
Saturday 2nd January 2010

Better late than never....
I am pleased to report that the Hammingden Tipteerers raised a total sum of £456.69!
In previous years we have always split the amount raised between 2 local charities; however we recently discovered The Royal George Road Day Centre has sadly been closed. Therefore the total sum was donated to the St Peter & St James' Hospice.
We are keen to find a new local charity to share in the donations for the next Mumming session - so any suggestions welcome!
A big thank you to Matt Mode for organising everything this year & also to Mike Greenaway for driving the mini-bus between the 10 pubs on the night! As always, thank you to the actual Mummers & musicians.
In other news I would like to report the retirement of one of our longest standing members of the Hammingden Tiptereers - John Downe. With over 25 years of tireless commitment he has decided to step down & hang up his tatters for good. I think I speak for the rest of the group when I say he will be sadly missed!
Have a great 2010 and we'll see you in 10 months for the next Mummers outing!
